Assessment & Recommendations

Key Findings

  • Magnitude: 20.3% vegetation cover loss detected across 13.68 hectares
  • Detection Date: Disturbance first detected on October 13, 2025
  • Latest Observation: Most recent satellite data from January 31, 2026
  • Confidence: Disturbance classified at Confirmed confidence level

📋 Recommended Actions

  • Conduct a site inspection to confirm satellite findings and assess current conditions
  • Photograph and document the extent of disturbance and any visible causes
  • Determine the cause of disturbance (clearing, fire, disease, etc.)
  • Update monitoring logs and notify relevant stakeholders
  • Verify any required permits or authorizations if clearing was intentional
  • Maintain regular satellite observation to track any further changes

This report uses vegetation disturbance data from NASA's OPERA DIST-ALERT (Observational Products for End-Users from Remote Sensing Analysis - Disturbance Alert) product. OPERA DIST-ALERT provides near real-time detection of land surface disturbances using Harmonized Landsat Sentinel-2 (HLS) data at 30-meter resolution.

Satellite imagery previews use Landsat Collection 2 Level-2 data (Landsat 5, 7, 8, 9) produced by NASA/USGS and accessed via Microsoft Planetary Computer or, for the most recent acquisitions, via NASA LP DAAC (Earthdata) using the Harmonized Landsat Sentinel-2 (HLS) Level-3 product (HLSL30 v2.0). Satellite imagery previews also use Sentinel-2 Level-2A data produced by ESA/Copernicus and accessed as Cloud-Optimized GeoTIFFs via AWS Earth Search (managed by Element 84). Access to Sentinel data is free, full and open under the Copernicus Terms and Conditions.
